April is finally here, the skies are bright and the lambs are out and we all know what that means... spring cleaning! But let’s be real, it's not just our homes that need a fresh clean. Your social media presence might be feeling a little cluttered, too. After all, as the seasons change, so should your content strategy. Spring is the perfect time to tidy up your social media and give it the boost it needs.

Here’s how you can do a little social media spring cleaning:

1. Refresh your content

Ever look at your feed and think, “Ugh, I'm getting bored of this”? Well, it might be time to breathe new life into your content. Spring is a season of renewal, so why not apply that to your social media? Start by assessing your feed, are your visuals in need of an upgrade? Is your content engaging your audience? If you’re running out of fresh ideas, consider changing your aesthetics, mixing up your post types (carousel, videos, stories, etc.), or introducing new themes that align with the season or your brand’s vibe.

2. Reevaluate Your Goals

We’re a few months into the year now, so it's the perfect time to check in and see if you’re still on track with your social media goals. Ask yourself:

  • Are you reaching the audience you want?

  • Are your posts aligned with your current business objectives?

  • Do you need to pivot your messaging to keep up with new trends or changes in your industry?

Spring is a great time for a goal check-in and realignment. Maybe you’ve learned more about your audience since January and need to adjust your approach. Maybe your services have evolved, and you need to reflect that online. Whatever it is, it’s the perfect time to freshen things up.

3. Engagement Cleanup

Sometimes, we’re all guilty of hanging onto social media accounts that just aren’t serving us anymore. If your follower list has grown stale with inactive or irrelevant accounts, it’s time to do a little cleanup. Spring cleaning isn’t just about clearing out old rubbish, it’s also about making room for something new.

Review your followers and engagement rates. Are you reaching the right people? Consider unfollowing inactive accounts, or even better, engaging more with your core audience. It’s time to build a community that’s excited to interact with your content.

4. Audit Your Metrics

Look, I know numbers aren't always the most exciting part of social media, but they are essential. If you're not keeping an eye on your analytics, you're missing out on some valuable insights. Use the spring season to review your social media metrics, what posts performed well in the past three months? What didn’t? Use this data to inform your strategy moving forward. A content audit will help you figure out what type of content resonates with your audience and what you can leave behind.

5. Revamp Your Content Calendar

One of the best ways to stay organised and consistent with your social media is by having a solid content calendar in place. But if your calendar is looking a little dull, it's time to give it a refresh. Plan out some new, fun, and seasonal content that will keep your audience engaged. Think about creative ways to tap into trending topics, holidays, or seasonal themes. Maybe it’s time to introduce some interactive content like polls or Q&A sessions. Whatever it is, keep your content calendar flexible enough to keep things fresh and engaging throughout the season.

6. Don’t Forget About Your Profile

You’d be surprised how often people forget to update their social media profiles. Check your bio, profile picture, and links to make sure they’re still aligned with your business and brand identity. If you’ve made any changes in your business (like a new service offering or a new business goal), your social profiles should reflect that! A well-maintained profile is the first thing people see when they visit your page, so make sure it’s saying the right things.
